The Medical Anthropology and Environment Group at the Institut Pasteur is seeking a Communications/IT Manager to manage communications for a new global network of social sciences centers for preparedness and response to infectious threats and antimicrobial resistance. The three-year, full-time position will begin in January 2019.

Preferred training in communications, journalism, media studies (Bachelors or Masters level degree). Candidate must be bilingual, with excellent communications skills in English and French.

Communications/IT Manager of the SoNAR-Global project (A Global Social Sciences Network for Infectious Threats and Antimicrobial Resistance), financed by the European Commission

Missions/Activities
In collaboration with the coordinator of the project SoNAR-Global (Tamara Giles-Vernick) at Institut Pasteur, support all communications and IT activities linked to the project, which will develop a global network of social sciences research centers for preparedness and response to infectious threats and antimicrobial resistance:
• Interact with external partners and working groups to find out about their activities
• Develop multi-media communications about the consortium and its activities to communicate with broad publics in wide-ranging settings
• Work with coordinator and external partners to develop web platform for the consortium and broader network
• Manage web platform, identify areas for improvement and update web platform

Profile
Training and capacities:
• Masters degree in professional communications, journalism, PR, marketing or media studies
• Communications capacities with broad publics in wealthy and lower/middle income countries
• Web platform and social media management
• Video editing and photography
• Knowledge of European projects (H2020 or other) preferred
• Exceptional speaking and writing skills in English and French

Experience:
• Professional experience in research, health/science, international setting strongly preferred
• Social media and website management
• Experience creating and design marketing materials including presentations, brochures, infographics
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
• Some experience in communications
• Experience working with a wide variety of stakeholders including researchers and policymakers, third-party vendors, project partners
• Media relations experience, preferably in Europe
• Experience in health fields and in lower/middle income countries a plus

Aptitudes:
• Responsive, rigorous, creative; autonomous, adaptive, and self-motivated
• Ability to get along with people in a variety of settings (diplomacy, openness, capacity for teamwork)
• Excellent organizational skills
• Some familiarity with the social sciences and global health is an asset
